Berner was brought up in Brooklyn, New York. Her mother is Lenore DiLeo Berner, a jazz singer and former principal at MS51 (William Alexander Middle School in Brooklyn).[2] Her father is Dan Berner. She is a graduate of Lubin School of Business.[2] She has an older brother named Daniel.
