What is the term for ‘tagged photos’ on Instagram?

Instagram tags are pictures or videos where someone has identified you or someone else in the content. Your profile contains a special section that is visible to others when you’re tagged or made aware of that post. This is a means for people to show that you’re in a picture or that the content is relevant to you. A notification will be sent to you when you’re tagged, which will let you know immediately. It is done to create a stronger social network on the platform and bring more content to the personalized page.

Is it possible to hide the tagged photos on your Instagram page?

It’s possible for you to do that! Instagram allows you to manage your tagged photos and block individual ones from appearing on your profile. If you want to make specific changes, you can configure it to manually approve all tags prior to their appearance. You have the ability to determine what is visible to others and what is only visible to you.

Steps to hide tagged photos on Instagram

    When you conceal individual photos

To do this, head to your profile and tap the ‘Tagged Photos’ icon, which resembles a square shape.

Press the three dots situated at the top right corner.

Next, tap the photo you want to hide.

Select either ‘Tag Options’ or ‘Post Options’ here.

Click on ‘Hide From My Profile.’ Your tagged status will remain, but it will be removed from public view on your profile.

    Manually approve tags for display

To do this, go to your profile and tap the menu on the top right.

    Select ‘Settings and privacy’.

To complete the process, scroll down and tap on ‘Tags and mentions.’

Tap on ‘Manually approve tags’ under ‘How you manage tags’.

At the end, you need to turn on this setting, and the changes will be made. Reviewing and approving any new tags before they appear on your profile will increase your control over what others see on your profile.

    More on Tags

Using tags is a more customized way to indicate that someone has nudged you online. When a picture or a post is tagged with your name, it connects you to a wider circle on the Internet, making your digital footprint and presence more authentic. You have the option to tag people on posts, just like others can tag you, which can create a bigger circle and make people feel more important. Tagging is a straightforward process, and you can do it as well!
